PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY

Big smiles start early.

We make dental visits easy, comfortable, and even fun for kids. Dr. Koman and our team help build healthy habits that last a lifetime.

CARE THEY'LL GROW UP WITH

A dental practice for your whole family.

A child’s first dental visit sets the tone for how they’ll feel about the dentist for the rest of their life. That’s why we focus on making every visit positive, comfortable, and pressure-free. Our team takes the time to explain what’s happening in kid-friendly terms so your child feels safe and in control.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child’s first visit when their first tooth appears or by their first birthday. From there, routine visits every six months allow us to monitor development, catch potential issues early, and keep their smile healthy as they grow.

What Does Pediatric Dentistry Include?

Pediatric dentistry covers everything your child needs to maintain a healthy smile as they grow. This includes routine exams and cleanings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, cavity detection, and guidance on brushing and flossing techniques. We also monitor jaw development, tooth eruption, and bite alignment to catch any concerns before they become bigger problems.

Every visit is tailored to your child’s age and comfort level. For younger children, visits are focused on getting comfortable in the chair and building trust. As they get older, we introduce more thorough cleanings and preventive treatments to protect their permanent teeth.

Why Early Dental Visits Matter

Children who start visiting the dentist early are significantly less likely to develop cavities and dental anxiety later in life. Early visits allow us to identify decay, spacing issues, and developmental concerns before they require more involved treatment.

Just as important, regular visits normalize the experience. A child who grows up going to the dentist every six months doesn’t develop the fear and avoidance that leads so many adults to put off care. We’re not just treating teeth. We’re building a relationship with dental health that carries into adulthood.

What to Expect at Your Child’s Visit

  • Gentle cleaning to remove plaque and tartar buildup
  • Comprehensive exam to check for cavities, development, and bite alignment
  • Fluoride treatment to strengthen enamel and prevent decay
  • Age-appropriate education on brushing, flossing, and nutrition
  • Sealants on molars when recommended to protect against cavities

Best dental cleaning of my life!!! I’ve lived in several cities (PHL, NYC, ATX) and Dr. Koman and his team were incredibly thorough, friendly, clean. This was by far the best dentist experience I’ve had. Easy pick for an amazing dentist.
Highly recommend Koman Dental. From Dani and Sydney’s assistance with scheduling, coordination with insurance, and smile as you walk in the door, to Jen and Bri’s professional assistance with cleaning and the procedures. Dr. Koman has a steady hand and a good team behind him. Go to Koman Dental to keep your teeth clean and healthy!

I’ve had such an amazing experience with Dr. Koman and his team at Koman Dental! They’re always considerate of my time and comfort, which I appreciate so much (because let’s be honest—most doctors run behind). I’d recommend them to any friend without hesitation, time and time again.

I had such a great experience at Koman Dental. I had dental bonding done and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the results. Dr. Daniel Koman took so much care with the process and made me feel comfortable the entire time. The outcome looks incredibly natural, and I genuinely love my smile now. The whole team was kind, professional, and attentive. I highly recommend Koman Dental if you’re considering cosmetic dental work, the results exceeded my expectations.

Very happy with my experience with Dr. Koman and the rest of the team. Everyone is very friendly, made me feel comfortable and I appreciate all the updates. Dr. Koman goes to my gym and I love being able to show support to others that share same interests. Recently had a chipped tooth repaired and even with the slight nerves my experience went very well and I’m happy with the results!

As I think many of us can agree, the dentist is not my favorite place in the world to go. That being said -- in knowing it is an important place to not only go but go regularly -- I'm looking for top tier expertise, skill, friendliness, and technology.

Dr. Koman and his staff check the box in every one of these areas.

His office staff are friendly, organized, knowledgeable, and communicative.

In my latest cleaning with Jenn - she was extremely thorough, professional, friendly, and mindful of my sensitive teeth 🙂 (THANK YOU). I daresay I've ever gotten a more clean cleaning.

Dr. Koman himself is extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. I also appreciate that Dr. Koman exudes a high sense of integrity. He outright told me he would not do work on me that he would not do on himself, which gives me a lot of trust in his recommendations. And even without that, it is immediately apparent Dr. Koman knows what he's talking about and can be trusted.

Before I went to Dr. Koman, I honestly didn't know dentistry work could be of such high quality, and it has inspired me to follow suit in taking better care of my teeth.

Now I just need to ask for my favorite show to watch from the TVs that hang from the ceiling while my work is being done 😉

had the best experience getting my teeth cleaned yesterday! The staff was so pleasant from start to finish. Dani checked me in and was incredibly warm and friendly. Rachael did my cleaning, and she was both knowledgeable and informative throughout the process—not to mention so sweet and pleasant! Dr. Koman was also wonderful. He walked me through a clear plan for my future treatment, even sharing his priorities list with me. He really took the time to address my concerns and create a thoughtful plan moving forward. Overall, such a great experience with this team! 10/10 recommend

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked

Q

When should my child first visit the dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first visit when your child's first tooth appears or by their first birthday. Early visits help us catch issues early and build comfort with the dental office.

Q

How often should my child come in?

Every six months for a routine checkup and cleaning. This allows us to monitor their development, catch cavities early, and keep their teeth clean and healthy as they grow.

Q

What if my child is afraid of the dentist?

That's completely normal. We take it slow, explain everything in kid-friendly language, and never force anything. For children with significant anxiety, we also offer nitrous oxide to help them relax during their visit.

Q

Do you see kids and adults at the same practice?

Yes. Koman Dental Denver is a family practice, so parents and children can be seen at the same office. Many families schedule back-to-back appointments to make it easy.

Q

When should my child get sealants?

Sealants are typically recommended when the permanent molars come in, usually around ages 6 and 12. They provide a protective barrier against cavities in the grooves of back teeth where brushing often misses.

Q

How do I schedule my child's appointment?

Call us at (303) 759-0731 or book online. Let us know your child's age and whether it's their first visit so we can plan accordingly.
